Our desire to connect with others lasts a lifetime. We connect with friends, family, neighbors and those who share our interests. We gather for special events and everyday activities. These relationships bring meaning to our lives, help us stay actively engaged, feel valued, and maintain a sense of belonging.
Nashoba Neighbors brings together older residents, who are living safely and independently in their own homes and need some additional support, with volunteers who are looking for ways to assist their neighbors.
The model is simple. A Nashoba Neighbors member makes a request for a service, such as a ride to a social event or appointment, help with an errand, or assistance with a household activity. A volunteer signs up to fulfill the request then contacts the member to confirm the arrangement.
This creates opportunities to build new relationships, support one another, strengthen our community, and enable older adults to live more safely and independently in their own homes.
